inanimate objects weekly summary

Image
Weekly Summary, week one! Advancement In the inanimate object brief; so far I have created my thumbnail ideas and have begun creating my animatics, remaking/changing angels/shots ect. I am confident with what objects I  want to use, scissors and a pencil, a conflict caused by their desire for the same sheet of paper. Already having explored different ideas, I have settled for what I want to happen, pencil and scissors race down towards the paper, both manipulating the paper, the scissors in a more vicious manor cuts the paper, chases the pencil and cuts it in half, winning the paper all to its self. I kept re doing my animatic to the point I was able to cut down the cuts and shots so it was appropriate to the brief (only three shots/ and cuts) and  made it so the camera moves smoothly and dynamical. Including shots that is an establishing shot, but also looks like an over shoulder shot, to distinguish the relationship between the two objects, conflict. It creates an oppos...

Potential ideas : Idea 1: Scissors and pencil both desire same piece of  paper. Establishing shot: Its night time, objects begin to come alive. Conflict: Both pencil and scissors wants the paper.  Resolution: The scissors win the pencil is defeated. Details: The main light switch's off, leaving only a bright lamp that highlights a single piece of paper, in the middle of two foes. Both objects, that have slowly came alive sees the paper and desires it. They both race towards it, they reach it at the same time, the pencil begins to draw on it and the scissors begins to cut it. Being greedy, the scissors chases the pencil and cuts him in half, being the winner he continues to cut the paper joyfully while the pencil is left lifeless.  Positives: use of film language allows the viewer to easily understand their enemies with the use of compensation: the scissors opposite the pencil, with the desired paper in the middle. I effectively show its desired by the li...

Our brains naturally tries to make sense of what we see and hear. Elements of sound: - Dialogue - music (foreground or background) - Foley ('realistic' sounds of characters and their actions) - Sound design You can only use 2 and a half type of sounds at a time, other wise it becomes overwhelming.  Sound can be used to suggest a mood Set a place Indicate a geographical location indicate a historical period clarify the plot define a character connect ideas, characters, places or moments heighten ambiguity or diminish it heighten realism or diminish it draw attention to detail or away from it indicate changes in time smooth otherwise abrupt changes between shots or scenes  empathises transition for dramatic effect exaggerate action startle or soothe Loudness = amplitude...

In animate objects lesson 1

For this project, we have the theme of stationary objects, night time and direction. we have to have two objects come to life and fight over anther object, which is inanimate. the narrative structure has to be: establish: to animated objects coming to life conflict: two objects desire a third, inanimate object resolution: one object wins. we have the choice to pick any inanimate objects to animate, we also have the choice to pick which animation technique to use. for this project we must: research and develop our art style create 2d style frames based on research (primary + secondary) can be physical or digital media animatics must be made, can be loose but clarity is essential look at different mediums such as film, art, photography no squash and stretch solid objects realistic sense of weight. Only 4 weeks. Must be an interactive process, rough animation, tie down, clean up. art direction/ style is up to you line work/filler choice is up to us. add post pro...

Week 1, lesson 1; Film language

Today, we had an introductory lesson on the first research brief of the second year; 'film language' . For this research project we will have eight weeks to research and write up a thousand word summary of our research. We were introduced to different types of analysis of film; - Editing - Sound - cinematography - mise en scene - Performance - the use of conventions & tropes Editing is cutting different shots together, different type of shots used; cross cut dissolve fade key words: Cross cut - cutting between two different scenes that are both happening at the same time. Dissolve - An edit that blends from one shot to anther, making a visual connection. Fade - A fade to black (or other colours), usually signifying something is coming to close. Tropes: the more certain signifiers, the more they are reinforced in the audience and film makers. Believability: All films require the audience to suspend disbelief in order to be effective to know time has ...
